The Colour Monster
We have started learning about feelings and emotions using the story 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas.
This week the children have learnt about...
Happiness
Sadness
Anger
In the story the colour monster is yellow when he feels happy, blue when he feels sad and red when he feels angry.
The children have explored the colours yellow, blue and red inside the classroom and in the outdoor learning environment. Group time learning has also been about what we and others might look and feel like when we are happy, sad and angry.

Today, the children went to Nature and experienced hot chocolate being made on a campfire.
They were so sensible and safe and most of them tried the hot chocolate.
We had a fabulous time...

Christmas Party 2024
What a wonderful day we have had!
The children have played musical bumps, pin the carrot on the snowman and pass the parcel. They enjoyed their party food, which they had made themselves.
They had a surprise visit from Santa. Santa brought all the children a gift which they were very excited to open and take home.
In the morning, we found out that Santa likes hot chocolate and that his reindeer were up on the roof waiting for him.
In the afternoon we found out that Santa lives in the North Pole and his reindeer like to eat carrots. We also found out that the reindeer were back on the roof, waiting for Santa!

Happy New Year
This morning, we celebrated the 'New Year' with Aiden.
We did lots of activities based around snakes, as it is the year of the 'snake'
We watched a snake dance celebration and did our own 'very long' snake around the nursery garden.
To end the celebration, Aiden enjoyed giving all his friends a gift.
Which his mummy and daddy very kindly sent into nursery.
What a wonderful morning we have had!
The video of our snake dance is on the website too (Under the school video tab)

World Book Day
Today we celebrated World Book Day.
The children revisited learning from the core stories we have enjoyed so far.
The morning children enjoyed a live stream from Burnley Youth Theatre.
Read by Charley. The story was called, 'There is no Dragon in this story' We were so impressed how well they sat, listened and joined in.
We then shared todays story with our families. Thank you to all the parents that were able to come and join us. The children recalled learning from the core stories, then chose which story they wanted to listen to.
The Gingerbread man was chosen by both morning and afternoon children.
We ended our story session by singing songs.

Life Cycles
The children patiently counted down 21 days.
It was so lovely to see their response to the chicks. They have all had the opportunity to hold them. Some were happy just to look at them, some gave them a gentle stroke and some carefully held them in their hands.
What a wonderful experience...
