Hot Chocolate Experience

The children have been to nature today to experience having hot chocolate made using a kelly kettle on a fire in the fire pit. They listened as Farzana and Kirsty talked to them about being safe. Then came the best bit, getting to drink delicious hot chocolate to keep them warm. What a wonderful experience it was!

Nursery Rhyme Week

The children have enjoyed singing a range of nursery rhyme songs such as '5 little leaves', 'A hedgehog is very prickly', 'Pick up a leaf and put it in your basket', 'Conkers' and 'Twinkle, twinkle little star'. They have been making hedgehogs, snakes, worms and little stars using matchsticks, playdough, sticks and rolling pins.

A visit from Lancashire Hawks and Owls

We have been reading our new core story 'Owl Babies' and learning all about owls, where they live and what they eat. We had a very special visit from Lancashire Hawks and Owls. The children loved this experience- seeing a range of birds up close and getting to stroke them.

Our First Half Term

The children have all settled really well into their new environment. They are getting to know the routine and exploring the different areas. We have enjoyed reading our new core story 'The Colour Monster'. We have been talking about what makes us feel happy, sad and angry. The children have also been exploring colour mixing using the colour chart sheet, powder paints and water. We made patterns using coloured counters and bears. They also had to go on the hunt to find the colour monsters hiding in our classroom. They had to use positional language words such as 'in', 'on' and 'under' to describe where they found the monsters.
